A Kitchen Remodel in Phases — Part 1

Kitchen before

What do you do when you’re renovating a “not so big” kitchen on a “not so big” budget?  Our 1936 kitchen begged for 21st century amenities–but there was just no space.  We found some pretty creative solutions to make it work.  Check it out!

Plus, no decent place for a microwave–or the ugly recycling bins!

These are some big issues.  Especially when you’re on a shoestring budget.  So what do you do?  You have think outside the kitchen.

This closet in the adjacent hallway was the perfect spot to solve some of our problems.

Then we were ready to fill it up…

A full-size microwave fits perfectly. The height is right for easy access and best of all it’s not hogging space in the tiny kitchen.

There was even room for two BIG recycle bins–and lots of extras.
